Safety Pin - Angel of Collision
The Safety pin is a crucial element in reducing potential damage; however, it is important to note that its mechanism is primarily designed for direct impacts (frontal or perpendicular to the nameplate). It helps minimize damage if a vehicle hits the barrier by allowing controlled breaking, which guides the movement of the barrier arm and motor tube, thereby preventing more severe damage, bending, or other similar issues.

The effectiveness of the Safety pin depends on the angle of impact and is greatly reduced if the barrier is hit from the sides. In all cases, the force and speed of the object striking the barrier play a significant role in ensuring the proper breakage of the Safety pin. In some situations, this may cause the barrier arm to become pinned to the object and bent, even if the Safety pin has broken correctly. Additionally, the effectiveness of the safety pin relies on the barrier being securely anchored to the ground. There is no specific research available on the maximum safe angle for the safety pin to break. Therefore, when impacts occur from the sides, the reliability of the safety pin’s breakage may vary.
